FINE HANDCRAFTED BEER

Text Box: Our Beers:

Our vision is to produce truly great New Zealand beer - and a goal like this takes time and talent to realise.

For a young(ish) fella, our brewer Paul Croucher had spent many years honing and perfecting his craft.  With the result being he won a brewing award in the first brewing competition he entered.  Our beers reflect his talent and passion for beer, and we’re confident you will enjoy drinking them.

Croucher Brewing currently produces three beers (plus the odd seasonal beer), an extra smooth PALE ALE, THE HEF, and a BOHEMIAN PILSNER.  Each of these beers is full of flavour that will challenge your palate, with character that will make you redefine ‘great beer’.

Below are the tasting notes for the PALE ALE, THE HEF, and BOHEMIAN PILSNER:

PALE ALE  -  5% alc/vol

Tasting Notes:

Appearance - A rich rose-gold hue, with good head.

Aroma - Massive up front fruit with strong freshly crushed grain. Passionfruit and lychees predominate with a stonefruit undertone - fruit salad on weetbix. Grassiness from three Nelson hop varieties compliment the fruit to give an aroma reminiscent of a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc but the grunt in the palate leaves you in no doubt that this is a very serious beer.

Body & Mouthfeel - Very smooth with a gorgeous lingering finish.

Delicious burps.

Text Box: “Croucher Pale Ale pours a beautiful burnished gold with a thick collar of foam. It throws a punchy malt nose with lashings of tropical fruit. In the glass, it has a full, biscuity body with pronounced orange and caramel notes. The beer finishes strongly with a lingering dry finish which leaves you immediately ready for the next taste.”

BOHEMIAN PILSNER  -  5% alc/vol

Our Czech-styled lager was released in January 2007, and is one of Paul’s favoured styles of beer.

Tasting Notes:

Appearance - a pale straw coloured beer. 10% wheat malt added to the grist supplies a generous clinging head.

Aroma - a true lager yeast fermented at low temperatures provides the characteristic characteristics of a bohemian pilsner. Generous additions on New Zealand Motueka and Riwaka hops provide a new world twist to this ancient classic. This is a very hoppy lager.

Particularly Luscious.

Text Box: Croucher Pils...

This is a great beer - plenty of lifted hoppy flavours with yeast and floral notes. Lengthy and with an appropriate hoppy bitterness on the finish. Very impressive!
Rated 5 Stars, 93%.
