Croucher MOONRIDE BLACK IPA cans, 5.5%
Moonride is BACK! It has been a long while since we brewed this classic. Moonride was originally released as Patriot, American Black Ale in 2011, possibly the first Black IPA beer commercialised in NZ. That year it was named Champion Beer at the inaugural (in fact, the one and only) New Zealand Beer Cup, a head-to-head blind taste-off event run by the NZ Brewer’s Guild.
This is a dark beer with plenty of hoppy bite, but also does not shy away from a serious malt backbone. This Black India Pale Ale has a gorgeous dark body and light brown head - with an explosion of orange, chocolate and pine notes. It's a deliciously smooth malt rider, with enough flavour to keep you clinging on for more. Be cool, don't drink and bike!
As mentioned, Moonrise/Patriot has won the New Zelanad Beer Cup, won Gold at the BREW NZ awards and Silver at the Australian International Beer Awards. It has pedigree.
